Morning ranting...
I'm not sure if I wrote about this during the Christmas season or not, but it's worth retelling even if I did. My mom and I went shopping one day in December and of course, in every store (although we were supposed to be buying Christmas presents for friends and family) we rushed immediately to the infants' section. In Goody's Department Store there were onesies that said, "I'm Too Sexy for My Diaper." I was horrified and beyond angry. My mom hurried me out of both stores and did her best to make me forget about it. I found out that JC Penney had the same onesie, but pulled it after complaints. Goody's, however, did not do the same. I am uncertain if they still have the onesie for sale, but I am in the process of checking.I cannot even adequately convey the emotions and concerns I have since I now have a daughter. From the Bratz dolls to clothes for infants right on up to teenage girls... our society is not only sexually charged, but childhood is becoming over sexed.
I am scared senseless for my little girl. It's not like I have 13 or 14 years before I have to really worry about her. That's clearly not the case in our society. My thoughts this morning are prompted by John Couey's trial in Florida. I looked at Jessica Lunsford's pictures (8 years old) and read the caption that stated John Couey kidnapped, raped, then buried this 8 year old little girl alive. She was found clutching a purple stuffed dolphin. I cried, then immediately launched into prayer for my own daughter. What is scarier is that these perverted, possessed pedophiles are not limited to alley's in cities or trailers in rural areas...they are everywhere. They are even in our churches. Recently in SC news a pastor was arrested for child pornography.
As a Southern Baptist, I am very concerned about the recent attention the denomination is receiving regarding sexual abuse. Of course, it is not just limited to any denomination.
